September was about listening and clarity. The Knowledge Assistant can now collect feedback on its answers and starts conversations more reliably, entity linking in the Highlighter Extension became more accurate and more transparent about where each match comes from, and Entity Hub now shows your usage status clearly and runs on modern reports by default. The platform vocabulary also moved to Schema.org version 30.1.
Knowledge Assistant: Answer Feedback and a Smoother First Conversation
You and your site visitors can now rate Knowledge Assistant answers with a thumbs up or thumbs down, pick a reason, and add a comment. Each piece of feedback is tied to the specific question and answer it refers to, which gives you and your Customer Success Manager concrete evidence of where your content and Schema Markup are serving answers well and where coverage gaps may be holding them back. The settings screen now separates the in-app experience from the hosted experience on your live site, with clear warnings before you change a setting or remove an embed URL that affects real visitors. Answers can also include call-to-action cards, such as a "Schedule a Demo" link, which open safely in a new tab. Every new session now connects reliably from the very first question, the assistant shows clear loading and status messages while it starts up, and result cards are more polished, with readable site names such as www.example.com, properly capitalized titles, and logo thumbnails when a page has no main image.
Smarter, More Transparent Entity Linking
Linked Entity Recognition in the Highlighter Extension now shows exactly where each matched entity comes from. Source information is provided directly by Schema App, so entities authored in the Highlighter are correctly labeled as Highlighter entities, and you can trust the preview when deciding which entity to link. Matching itself is also more accurate. Articles and blog posts are now matched by their headline as well as their name, so they are found consistently. Short text selections now benefit from an additional fallback lookup, and alternate names are kept separate from an entity's main name, keeping each entity's properties consistent. When a linking preview cannot be completed, you now see a clear, simple message so you always know the status of your lookup.
Entity Hub: Clearer Usage at a Glance
The Optimized Entities banner has been redesigned based on customer feedback. It now shows one of four states (On Track, Low Consumption, Close to Limit, and Limit Reached), each with a clear view of your usage and a suggested next step, such as a link to documentation or a quick way to contact us about upgrading. Accounts without an Entity Hub subscription now see an informational banner that explains what Entity Hub offers and how to get started. Entity Hub reports now run on our modern reporting experience by default, with full support for filters, paging, sorting, and row actions. Search now focuses on the columns you can see, so results closely match what you are looking for. Nightly report refreshes are more dependable, with automatic retries that keep cached reports up to date, and each entity's source now stays consistent even when two templates deploy overlapping markup.
Other Improvements at Schema App
- More detailed feedback on AI suggestions: when rejecting an AI-suggested highlight, you can now select one or more reasons, such as a broken XPath, a wrong mapping, or an invented value, and add a comment (required when choosing "Other"). Your input is preserved until your feedback is successfully submitted, and the list of reasons has been refined to match how drafts are actually reviewed.
- More reliable Highlighter templates: the Subtemplate Select dialog now accepts a manual XPath up front, "Apply URL to Page Set" adds the page to the target page set as expected, and launching a template from the Highlighter overview opens the right project. Deployment pattern matching now handles canonical URLs that contain trailing spaces, Adaptive Mapping previews display JSON-LD lists as readable rows, dialogs consistently respect their titles and close buttons, and the Template Generator now reliably completes each template or clearly reports when one needs attention.
- Faster validation in Deployment Monitoring: each scanned URL on the Monitoring Reports page now has one-click shortcuts to Google's Rich Results Test and the Schema Markup Validator, and error detail headers stay in view as you scroll. When markup is removed from a page, Performance Analytics now correctly updates that page's status. Monitoring also works more reliably for Shopify stores on custom domains, and date filtering for WordPress sites is now accurate.
- Schema.org 30.1 and updated validation rules: the Editor and Highlighter now support the latest Schema.org vocabulary, including new terms for EU Digital Product Passports and retail product feeds. Validation rules were updated to reflect Google's latest VideoObject guidance, and rules authored by Schema App are now clearly treated as recommendations, so validation on templates such as ContactPoint clearly separates recommended properties from required ones.
- Reporting fixes and cleanup: we made a number of fixes and refinements across report tables, filters, and report dialogs, along with improvements to the Knowledge Graph Health report, the Entity Manager, and Entity Performance Analytics. We also tidied up the navigation by removing a retired report from the sidebar.
- Security and reliability: we continued our enhanced security work across the platform, improved stability during periods of high traffic, and made routine data model enhancements behind the scenes.
In Brief
September 2026 focused on listening to users and making status easier to read. The Knowledge Assistant now collects thumbs up and thumbs down feedback with reasons and comments, warns before changes that affect your live site, supports call-to-action cards, and connects reliably from the very first question. Entity linking in the Highlighter Extension now shows the true source of each matched entity, matches articles by headline, handles short selections better, and communicates preview status clearly. Entity Hub gained a redesigned usage banner with four clear states, an informational banner for accounts without a subscription, modern reports by default, and more dependable nightly refreshes. AI suggestion feedback, Highlighter templates, Deployment Monitoring, and reporting all received accuracy and reliability improvements, and the platform now supports Schema.org 30.1.
