1. Why is Schema App sunsetting the BigCommerce app?

We have decided to sunset the ‘Schema Markup by Schema App’ BigCommerce App to focus on our Enterprise platform, enabling our customers to continue to thrive in this changing digital landscape. 


2. When will the ‘Schema Markup by Schema App’ BigCommerce App no longer be supported?

The plugin will no longer be supported as of January 31, 2025


3. What are my options to replace the ‘Schema Markup by Schema App’ BigCommerce App?

There are several alternatives to replace the ‘Schema Markup by Schema App’ BigCommerce App:

  1. SEO Rich Snippets (Recommended)
    SEO Rich Snippets is a BigCommerce app that implements JSON-LD structured data onto your BigCommerce pages based on the store & product information on your website content. It functions similarly to the ‘Schema Markup by Schema App’ BigCommerce App, but it does not have a custom Schema Markup generator integrated like the Schema App Editor. This plugin is priced at $23 - $27/month with a 30-day free trial.

  2. SEO Kart
    SEOKart is a fully loaded, all-in-one SEO app that can help you optimize your store and increase traffic and sales. On top of other SEO capabilities, the plugin can add Schema Markup to your product pages, making your product pages eligible for a product rich result. This plugin is priced at $20/month.


These options will allow you to continue leveraging Schema Markup on your BigCommerce store and maintain its SEO benefits. 


4. What will happen to the app on my BigCommerce store after the sunset date?

After the sunset date, the app will no longer be available for purchase and will stop deploying markup to your BigCommerce site. After January 31, there will be no updates, maintenance, or support for the app. We recommend seeking an alternate Schema Markup solution before the app's sunset date of January 31, 2025. 


5. What do I need to do BEFORE the app is sunset?

We recommend that you take the following steps before January 31, 2025:

  • Review the structured data on your website to ensure it meets your current SEO needs.
  • Explore alternative Schema Markup solutions such as SEO Rich Snippets and SEO Kart.
  • Download your markup from the Schema App Editor. Refer to this support documentation for more information on downloading your Schema Markup from the Editor. 


6. Will I receive support for any issues related to the app before it gets discontinued?

Yes, we will continue to provide customer support until January 31, 2025. After that, we will no longer offer support for issues or inquiries related to the ‘Schema Markup by Schema App’ BigCommerce App.


7. Will Schema App automatically cancel my subscription billing?

Yes, we will automatically cancel your subscription billing on January 31, 2025.


8. What do I need to do AFTER the app has sunset?

  • For non-Stencil-enabled stores, you must uninstall the app and remove the deployment scripts from your storefront. This will reduce the number of scripts loaded on your website. Learn how to remove the deployment scripts from your BigCommerce storefront using this documentation.

  • For Stencil-enabled stores, you can uninstall the app, and the Schema App team will remove the deployment scripts from your storefront. If you do not uninstall the app, we will still remove the deployment scripts from your storefront.


8. How can I cancel my subscription before the sunset date?

If you’d like to transition to a new Schema Markup solution and cancel your ‘Schema Markup by Schema App’ BigCommerce App subscription before January 31, 2025, you can do so by contacting the Schema App Support team at support@schemaapp.com to let them know that you’d like to cancel your subscription. 


Our support team will ensure your subscription and subsequent payments are canceled. 


9. How can I ensure my Schema Markup remains effective after the sunset of the plugin?

You can ensure your Schema Markup remains effective by transitioning to an alternative solution and reviewing it regularly to align with the latest best practices.
