Using Schema App's MCP Connector in Microsoft Copilot

Modified on Tue, 30 Sep at 5:05 PM

What you’ll need

  • MCP server URL: https://mcpak.schemaapp.com/mcp

  • API key header: x-api-key

  • API key value: From Schema App Home → your Project → API Keys (copy the key for that project)

Copilot Studio natively supports MCP servers as tools. You can connect an MCP server via the built-in MCP wizard (recommended) or through a Custom Connector.

You can fetch your API Key by logging into https://app.schemaapp.com and then expanding your main project, opening "Deployment Settings" and copying the API Key.

Add via the MCP wizard

1. Open Microsoft Copilot Studio and go to Agents.

2. Select your existing agent → open the Tools tab → Add a toolNew toolModel Context Protocol.

3. When the MCP onboarding wizard opens, enter:

  • Server name: Schema App MCP

  • Description: Short summary like “Tools for interacting with Schema App projects.”

  • Server URL: https://mcpak.schemaapp.com/mcp

4. Under Authentication, choose API key.

5.In API key settings:

  • Header name: x-api-key

  • Value: paste the API key you copied from Schema App (per-project key).

6. Select Create, then Add to agent (or Add and configure if you want to review settings).

7. Back on the agent’s Tools tab, select Schema App MCP to view the list of available MCP tools. You should see a "search" and "fetch" tool.

(Optional) Modify the Agent's instructions

You may optionally choose to modify the Agent's instructions so that when Schema App is prompted as topic it invokes the Schema App MCP server so that it is guided on when it should use the tools.
