How To: Use URI Anchors to Distinguish Data Items Deploying to the Same URL

Modified on Fri, 22 Mar 2024 at 05:18 PM

If you are describing a webpage, it is common to require multiple data items to describe it. A defining feature of Schema App markup is that we require a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) for all our manually created data items. An additional requirement is that all URIs must be unique. If you have multiple data items describing the same webpage, you can distinguish them by adding anchors to your URI.

For example, if an Organization was described on https://www.schemaapp.com, the Contact Point associated with that Organization could be denoted by the URI https://www.schemaapp.com/#ContactPoint.

Note: Our tool will typically auto-populate new URIs with an anchor tag referencing the data item's Type, and possibly a number.
